The Difference Between Spunbond Nonwoven Machine And Meltblown Non-woven Machine

time2022/03/18

Everyone knows that masks are made of non-woven fabrics. Spunbond nonwovens and melt-blown nonwovens have different functions in defending against viruses. What is the difference between them?

The importance of face masks was well known when the coronavirus broke out. Everyone knows that masks are made of non-woven fabrics. But most people don't know what types of non-woven fabrics face masks contain. The medical mask is composed of three layers of non-woven fabrics, and the middle layer is melt-blown non-woven fabrics. The top and bottom layers are spun-bond nonwovens. They have different functions in defending against viruses. What is the difference between spun-bond nonwovens and melt-blown nonwovens?

Production Process

The production process of non-woven fabrics is simple. All procedures are done on the non-woven production line. Proceed as follows

1. Load the raw PP into the silo of the spun-bond non-woven machine and put in the necessary additives

2. The extruder dissolves and extrudes the material.

3. The filter removes impurities from the PP solution.

4. Now the spinning system works, it spins and stretches the PP solution into long and thin fibers.

5. The filament is made into a mesh by the calendar, and then the web is produced by their own method into a non-woven fabric. They are bonding, thermal bonding, chemical bonding, or mechanical reinforcement.

Meltblown manufacturing process is shorter than spun-bond.

1. The raw material PP is automatically from the first floor to the third floor of the melt-blown nonwoven machine.

2. PP becomes melted by extrusion.

3. The melt flows into the spinning box after being filtered and metered by the pump.

4. In the spinning box, the spinning die ejects the fibers. High temperature and high-pressure air blow the fibers into long, thin fibers.

5. Meltblown non-woven fabrics are made by web forming and hot rolling

Characteristic

Spunbond nonwovens are easily decomposed. It is also moisture resistant, breathable, flexible, lightweight, and non-combustible. Now more and more people use spun-bond non-woven products instead of plastic products. Because they are non-toxic, non-irritating, environmentally friendly, and recyclable. What's more, it's colorful and inexpensive.

Meltblown cloth is light in weight, three-fifths that of cotton. Soft and comfortable to the touch. Meltblown cloth is waterproof, breathable, and non-absorbent. The most important thing is that the melt-blown cloth has good filterability. This is a strong requirement for medical masks.

Application

Spunbond Nonwoven Application

Spunbond non-woven fabrics are mainly used in medical materials, agricultural coverings, home textiles, packaging materials, shopping bags, etc.

Meltblown Nonwoven Application

Meltblown non-woven fabrics are the core material of masks. In the early days of the new crown pneumonia epidemic, it was because of the lack of masks caused by this melt-blown non-woven fabric. In addition, it is a good material for liquid filtration, insulation, absorption, insulation, oil absorption, and wipers.

Non-woven fabrics are also widely used in our lives. If you want to know more about non-woven fabrics, you can contact us.
